Nickelodeon Character Design with Joel Fajnor

This past month and a half, San Jose State was lucky enough to participate in a character design workshop with Joel Fajnor from Nickelodeon! We were able to choose from one of two character personalities. I chose to do a female wolf in sheep's clothing.

I had a lot of fun on this project, especially in the extreme poses! It was very freeing to be able to go crazy and push things as far as I can. Plus I learned a lot about design hierarchy, silhouette, proportion, exaggeration, straights vs. curves, and so much more! I know these things are going to translate over into everything I do, so it was a very exciting process. This was a project where at 5:00am, I still found myself excited about the work, and laughing at the funny drawings I could do. I hope I can bring that into every one of my projects from now on. Anyways, enough talk! Thank you Joel Fajnor, Josilin Torrano, Ashley Morley, Steve Hirt, and anyone else who helped set this project up! Here is some of my final work for it:

Pastry Shop Environment

Thank you everyone who came out to the BFA Gallery opening last night! It was a great night. Here is a piece that is hanging up in the gallery that I finished recently. It's an environment for all those pastries that I painted earlier to go in.
